There is good news to be celebrated on the abortion front although babies continue to be murdered daily in the US. Texas, Ohio, and Virginia have seen great steps taken through stronger, pro-life laws resulting in the closure of abortion clinics and overall decline in abortion numbers. These things have happened as the result of God answering millions of prayers AND dedicated people working hard to end abortion.
There could be more good news on the horizon. Planned Parenthood is the nation’s largest abortion provider, reporting 323,999 abortions in one year, recently. Could it be that Planned Parenthood might ever stop providing abortions? Christians should pray for God’s mighty hand to do this.
President Trump promised during his campaign that he would take a stand against abortion and protect the unborn. Now he has offered Planned Parenthood a deal, according to a March 6 report from Fox News. He said they may continue to receive federal funding if they terminate all abortion related procedures. Their clinics can continue operation, providing healthcare to women in need. But the abortions would end.
This would be a huge leap toward ending abortion but it is not at all a certainty. Planned Parenthood President, Cecile Richards pushed back against the President’s proposal stating that laws already prohibit the use of federal funds for abortion. But everyone knows that is an empty argument. She went on to say that Planned Parenthood “will always stand for women’s ability to make decisions about their health and lives, without interference from politicians.”
Will President Trump and DC legislators hold true on that proposal to stop funding abortions at Planned Parenthood? We should rejoice that we have come to this point AND we should pray diligently that God’s mighty hand will act through our President AND we should work hard in more ways to urge our elected legislators to act decisively.
