You are likely aware there is snow in the weather forecast for the weekend. Our pastors thought it would be helpful to communicate ahead of time and make our snow plans known to everyone. We want to do our best to encourage everyone’s safety as we worship God together.
God’s grace is the standard by which we are loved by Him and each other. Braving the snow and ice earns nobody any extra rewards in heaven the same way that staying home because of snow and ice causes no one to lose any of God’s favor. Right! This is all about grace not our bravery! So we hope this plan reflects that.
Plan A – there is a minor degree of bad weather and a low degree of hazard traveling on the roadways. We will have our normal worship service along with all classes and children’s ministries.
Plan B – there is a higher degree of bad weather and higher degree of hazard traveling on the roadways. We will gather at Grant Street for worship but will not have extra classes or children’s ministries. Those who feel unsafe traveling are encouraged to stay in and worship at home. No one should feel obligated to attend because they are scheduled for some duty.
Plan C – there is a very high degree of bad weather and law enforcement officers advise people not to travel on the roadways. Our building will be closed for the day. Everyone should stay in and worship at home.
This information will be posted on our Facebook page and Instagram as well as on local news stations as soon as we are able to make the determination. Those scheduled to serve in various ministry areas will be notified by their ministry team leader. Please share the message on social media to help insure everyone gets the message.
Next, please take notice of those around you, your neighbors, the elderly, the sick, anyone in need. If you’re able, go knock on their door or call on the phone to check up on them. Go shovel their snow or get something from the store they need. Let your loving help show our community the grace of God.
You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16
